SALARY INFORMATION
Office Specialist Hourly Range: $24.00 - $29.74Anticipated Starting Rate: $24.00 – Hourly

The Orange County Superior Court was established in 1893 and maintains jurisdiction over a wide range of matters, with our flagship location being the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana, with additional courthouses located in Orange (Lamoreaux), Newport Beach (Harbor), Fullerton (North), and Westminster (West), as the fifth-largest trial court in the United States and the third-largest court of general jurisdiction in California. We have more than 140 judicial officers and over 1,500 staff with an operating budget of nearly $280 million.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Office Specialist performs responsible and specialized clerical duties. The incumbent is required to exercise excellent judgment to perform their duties with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality. Some assignments may also require the integration of technical knowledge with advanced interpersonal and communication skills.Examples of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:- Performs a variety of keyboarding duties, including typing, entry, retrieval of information, and other general office duties.
- Answers questions that involve searching for and abstracting data and providing detailed explanations of regulations, policies, or procedures.
- Interacts with the public, judicial officers, and stakeholders both in person and over the phone.
- May interact with the public or others in difficult situations, which require obtaining necessary information to gain cooperation.
- Reads, interprets, and appropriately responds to a variety of email inquiries.
- Produces high-quality work while meeting deadlines.

OFFICE SPECIALIST
- Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of full-time (or equivalent) clerical and office experience.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of full-time experience working for a California trial court or a government agency.
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:
One (1) year of the required experience may be substituted by one of the following:
Completion of eighteen (18) semester or twenty-seven (27) quarter units in office practices, business education, or a closely related clerical field from a recognized college,-OR-
Completion of 360 hours of training from a recognized occupational training program in secretarial sciences, office practices, business education, or a closely related field. Note: To receive substitution credit, a copy of your college official transcripts must be included with your application.

Only those who meet the minimum qualifications and desirables (if applicable) will proceed to the next step in the recruitment process.
STEP 2: Candidates' supplemental question responses may be evaluated and ranked. Depending on the number of applications, assessments and/or screening interviews may be conducted.
STEP 3: Those candidates who are successful in the assessment/review may be placed on the eligible list. Placement on the eligible list is not a guarantee of interview or employment. All candidates will be notified via email of their status at each step of the process. Additional steps in the selection process will include a local background check and a reference check.
