This role is ideal for a seasoned operations professional seeking to join Align’s Research and Development organization. In this hybrid position, you will coordinate the scale-up of direct fabrication capabilities across material blending and device manufacturing, working at the intersection of R&D, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, and Sourcing teams. You will advise on facility and equipment strategy, recommend solutions to cross-functional challenges, and contribute to the successful transition of aligners, retainers, and other advanced medical devices from development into full-scale production — directly supporting the company’s next generation of products and long-term growth. This is a hybrid role requiring travel up to 50%, with remote work arrangements available.
- Coordinate the scale-up of material blending and direct fabrication manufacturing operations across multiple product lines.
- Advise R&D, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, and Process Engineering teams on facility and equipment readiness throughout the scale-up process.
- Facilitate information sharing and alignment across cross-functional teams to support coordinated decision-making.
- Recommend equipment strategies and suggest process improvements to support manufacturing readiness and efficiency.
- Guide engineering and construction contractors on direct fabrication facility requirements for both resin blending and device manufacturing.
- Contribute to budget planning for capital equipment, facilities buildout, and engineering services.
- Coordinate capital equipment procurement from selection through purchase requisition, purchase order, delivery, and installation.
- Suggest and evaluate contract terms for equipment, services, and materials in partnership with Sourcing-NPI to establish supply agreements with strategic suppliers.
- Oversee custom and off-the-shelf capital equipment evaluation, selection, and qualification.
- Coordinate and communicate with vendors across the implementation life-cycle.
- Participate in design reviews for equipment and facilities to ensure manufacturing readiness.
- Oversee equipment delivery schedules and coordinate facilities construction activities.
- Track current and planned manufacturing capacity against the commercial forecast, recommending adjustments as future equipment changes and upgrades are incorporated into the capacity plan.
- Support and optimize current manufacturing efforts in San Jose while coordinating expansion to additional locations.
