Job Description

NBC Bay Area's Digital Internship provides students with real world experience and exposure to working in a major market and in a high-energy newsroom.

Join our award-winning digital team and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, major market newsroom. Interns will work alongside experienced digital journalists who manage the websites, apps and social media platforms for NBC Bay Area and Telemundo Área de la Bahía.

We are seeking motivated candidates with a strong interest in multiplatform news production and social media engagement. This internship offers an immersive look at the day-to-day operations of a duopoly television station’s digital process.

Interns will have the opportunity to develop and sharpen their newswriting skills across platforms – whether it’s for a web story, a social media post or a mobile app push alert while learning best practices in digital publishing and audience growth.

Summer internship dates are June 1, 2026 through August 7, 2026.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Writing content for multiple digital platforms
  • Conducting research to support news coverage
  • Clipping broadcast video for digital use
  • Creating social media content
  • Assisting with general digital content production

Interns may also have the opportunity to support our digital video team on location for special projects and assignments.

This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring journalists eager to build practical skills in a collaborative, bilingual newsroom environment serving the Bay Area.

Internships at NBCUniversal are paid and do not require course credit.

Qualifications

NBCUniversal interns must meet the following criteria:

- In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress. We will consider recent graduates one semester beyond degree.

- Current class standing of Junior or above

- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

- Must be 18 years of age or older

- Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a Visa or sponsorship

- The ability to work at the station, located at 2450 N. First Street, San Jose, CA

Base Salary is $18.45 per hour
