Assistant Project Manager (APM)

Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role assists with scheduling, subcontractor coordination, budgeting, documentation, RFIs, submittals, and communication with clients, architects, engineers, and field teams to help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with daily management of commercial construction projects
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and procurement activities
  • Support subcontractor and vendor coordination throughout the project lifecycle
  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and progress reports
  • Help maintain project logs, contract documents, and closeout packages
  • Monitor construction progress and communicate updates to internal teams and clients
  • Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and invoice review
  • Coordinate with Superintendents to ensure project milestones are achieved
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and project specifications
  • Utilize project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • 1&-5 years of commercial construction experience preferred
  • Experience with ground-up, tenant improvement, healthcare, industrial, multifamily, or mixed-use projects is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software

Preferred Skills

  • Experience assisting with projects ranging from $1M&-$20M
  • Understanding of budgeting, estimating, and cost control
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities
