Job Summary
The Program Specialist I serves as a key instructional leader, focusing primarily on providing targeted support and resources to teachers to improve first-time instruction, student interventions, and overall achievement. Drawing on the core functions of an Instructional Coach, this specialist will actively collaborate with staff to implement and revise the California Standards through lesson demonstrations, direct coaching, and the facilitation of lesson studies with teacher teams. Key responsibilities include serving as a liaison to classroom teachers by modeling effective and research-based methodologies—while assisting in the selection of aligned instructional materials and the integration of instructional technology. By utilizing data-driven instructional decision-making and project management skills, the specialist will plan and provide professional learning opportunities for adult learners, ensuring that teachers are equipped with the latest evidence-based best practices and pedagogical strategies to enhance classroom instruction.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Masters Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning including specialized training in special education curriculum and instruction.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of three years of practical public school experience as a special education teacher or specialist, or as a school psychologist in the education of individuals with exceptional needs.
Possession of
- A valid Special Education Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential; Preferred Credential: Mild to Moderate Support Needs
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential;
- A valid California Driver's license.
