- ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) is seeking a Temporary Lifeguard to support Lake Cahuilla Park, in La Quinta.
The Lifeguard, under general supervision, will safeguard the general public by performing lifeguard services over an assigned beach or swimming pool facility, and perform other related work as assigned.
Responsibilities for this position include safeguarding the general public by performing lifeguard services for an assigned pool area; makes rescues, administers first aid, and performs manual and mechanical resuscitation. Advises about and enforces regulations concerning swimming areas. Makes periodic patrols of swimming areas warning bathers of unsafe swimming conditions; posts appropriate warning flags and informational signs; Enforce pool regulations and water safety policies, and ensure subordinate staff enforces these regulations and policies. Maintains lifeguard station and equipment in neat and orderly condition; as necessary
Work schedule: Varies on Pool Operation, Normal days will be Monday-Thursday - Will vary based on events and department needs and parking operating hoursMeet the Team!

- Maintains lifeguard station and equipment in neat and orderly condition; as necessary, does other park maintenance work.- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Lifesaving techniques, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), first aid, water safety, and use and care of lifesaving equipment.
Ability to: Perform swimming rescues in various water conditions and tread water for extended periods of time; respond in an effective and mature manner in emergency and stress situations; evaluate swimming conditions relative to public safety; deal tactfully and effectively with individuals and groups; sit and stand for long periods of time in adverse weather conditions, particularly heat and wind; establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate effectively both orally and in writing.- SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver License may be required in some positions.
Other License/Certificates: Possession of the following valid certificates: Lifeguarding which includes First Aid issued by the American Red Cross (ARC),
