- ABOUT THE POSITION
- The County of Riverside's Ultrasound unit at Riverside University Health System - Medical Center seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Moreno Valley.
This position performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic imaging equipment to locate, evaluate, and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data for patients at the RUHS Medical Center and affiliated outpatient clinics. Incumbents consult with physicians and clinical staff regarding examination requirements, prepare and position patients, operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, assist with ultrasound-guided procedures, maintain accurate records and operational logs, and provide high-quality patient care and customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Desired qualifications include experience performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures in an acute care hospital or outpatient setting. Multiple ARDMS certifications, experience with ultrasound-guided procedures, and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality patient care.

- Consult with referring physician regarding patient’s medical history to determine the type of ultrasonic procedure required and to correlate the clinical history with the test to be performed.
- Start and maintain intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner within scope of practice.
- Operate complex ultrasound equipment pertinent to department needs; calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment.
- Utilize ancillary devices, such as oscilloscopes, cameras, and video recorders to obtain permanent record of examination.
- Give direction to patients before examinations; position patients on examination table; provide proper protection to patients according to prescribed safety standards.
- Provide technical and nursing aid for surgical biopsy and aspiration procedures.
- Calibrate and operate equipment to ensure that the scan is correctly and diagnostically executed in minimal time.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test and successful completion of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Ultrasonography Program.
ANDExperience:
One year of hospital or clinical experience performing ultrasounds is preferred but not required.
AND
License:
Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR) or American National Standards Institute (ANSI).ARDMS registration in OB/GYN, Abdomen, and Vascular sonography is preferred but not required.
Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
