The City of Pleasanton is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Management Analyst in the Public Works Department. In this role, you will perform varied and responsible management-level support and analysis, including complex and sensitive information collection, evaluation, reporting, high-level writing, budget development and monitoring, and project management. This position also serves as a key administrative and analytical partner within the department, supporting contracts, procurement, budgeting, and coordination across divisions and with other City departments. This is a highly collaborative role with meaningful impact on Public Works operations and service delivery!

In This Role, You Will
- Develop and administer the Department’s budget.
- Develop Requests for Bids, Proposals, and Qualifications, and process contracts and purchase orders for Public Works.
- Serve as liaison between the Public Works Department and Finance on budget and contract matters.
- Oversee the Department’s administrative team.
- Perform responsible administrative and analytical support for the department and serve as liaison on administrative matters with other City departments, committees, and citizen groups.
- Conduct complex research projects; gather and analyze data; write reports; and develop recommendations, cost implications, and implementation guidelines for new and existing programs or projects.
- Develop and review procedures, systems, and standards, and recommend changes to improve organization, staffing, workflow, and efficiency.
- Prepare and coordinate information and statistical data for reports, presentations, grant applications, and special projects.
- Provide information to staff and the public related to assigned activities; prepare correspondence, presentations, and reports.
- Assist in department planning by supporting priorities, methods, standards, and work sequencing needed to achieve objectives.

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill, and abilities would be:
Education:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a closely related field. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional administrative, analytical, or program management experience, including significant responsibility for budget development, budget administration, contract administration, procurement, or related fiscal/operational analysis.
At least two (2) years must be at the journey level in a public agency.
Experience supporting or overseeing departmental budgets, purchase orders, requests for bids/proposals/qualifications, contracts, and interdepartmental coordination on fiscal or administrative matters is highly desirable.

May require possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City.
