Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall execution, financial performance, and delivery of complex public works projects for an electrical contractor. This role provides senior leadership across all phases of the project lifecycle—including design coordination, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning—while managing multidisciplinary teams and maintaining accountability for schedule, cost, quality, and safety. The position reports to executive leadership and plays a key role in strategic decision-making and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
& Provide full lifecycle leadership for large-scale Public Infrastructure electrical projects.
& Oversee all phases of project delivery including design development and review, procurement strategy, construction readiness, field execution, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
& Maintain full P&L responsibility, ensuring projects meet or exceed financial targets while managing cost controls, forecasting, and change management.
& Lead and mentor project teams consisting of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
& Coordinate with owners, agencies, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical, contractual, and schedule challenges.
& Manage public works contract compliance, including change orders, claims, RFIs, submittals, schedule updates, and regulatory requirements.
& Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies related to scope, cost, schedule, procurement, and constructability.
& Partner with executive management to provide clear and timely project reporting, including job status, financial forecasts, KPIs, risk items, and recovery plans.
& Ensure adherence to safety programs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.
& Support business development efforts by providing input on lessons learned, project strategies, and pursuit planning for similar work.
Required Qualifications
& 10&-15 years of experience working for an electrical contractor on public works projects.
& Proven experience delivering Public Infrastructure Projects, including Power Supply, Distribution, Backup Power/Reliability Systems, Control/Automation Systems (SCADA / PLC), Communication/Low Voltage Systems, and Mechanical/Electrical Equipment Interfaces.
& Demonstrated understanding of the full project lifecycle for complex electrical and transit systems.
& Strong leadership experience managing multi-layered project teams and field operations.
& Extensive experience with public agency contracts, including change management, claims, and compliance requirements.
& Strong financial acumen with direct P&L accountability on large projects.
& Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, owners, agencies, and field teams.
& Track record of successfully delivering complex projects of $75M electrical scope or greater.
Preferred Qualifications
& Experience on major rail or transit programs.
& Strong background in schedule management, procurement planning, and risk management.
& Familiarity with design-build and alternative delivery methods.
& Professional certifications (PMP, PE) preferred but not required.
