The County of Fresno Department of Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of Office Assistant I. Incumbents provide general clerical support which includes typing; filing; maintaining records; operating multi-line phones; providing information to the public concerning departmental or County operations; and performing related work as required.

Please Note: The current vacancies exist in the Department of Behavioral Health. The eligible list established from this recruitment may only be used by departments with programs impacted by California’s healthcare minimum wage requirements as mandated by SB 525. The posted salary information is based on hiring at a Step 4 placement.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:

OPTION 1:

Experience: One (1) year of full time, paid clerical work experience. Clerical work experience must have been gained in an office environment (e.g. experience gained as a cashier in a store or restaurant, delivery driver, or bank teller is not considered qualifying experience).

OPTION 2:

Education: Completion of fifteen (15) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

The following information is in addition to the options listed above:

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

Notes: Depending on the hiring department's needs, the ability to type 25 words or more per minute may be required.

Incumbents may be required to obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

  • Tentative Interview Dates: May 19-22, 2026

  • The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions.
  • Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
