Basic Job Functions:
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Safety Technician, and the Safety Technician Supervisor, a Security Officer’s primary role is the protection of teammates and property. A Security Officer will always work in a safe manner and will always report any unsafe conditions immediately.
Essential position responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a professional appearance while on duty, including personal grooming.
- Act in a professional manner when dealing with the general public and fellow teammates.
- Control plant entry and egress through proper clearances.
- Control traffic at vehicular, railroad and pedestrian gates.
- Record arrivals and departures of personnel as required.
- Maintain electronic/ paper logs and other records as required.
- Conduct vehicle searches at gates.
- Perform other duties as required by department supervision.
- Support the Safety Technicians in the field.
- Teammates will be required to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
- Valid California Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of an active Guard Card
- Previous experience or training in Security or Fire preferred
- E.M.T. Certification
