Position Summary
Waste Room Operator performs the function of transferring physical waste from the production lines to the correct waste or recycling receptacle in the waste room. These functions include a variety of activities that are directly or indirectly linked to the safe handling of finished and waste products.
Role and Activity:
- Becoming more proficient in multiple areas
- Be willing to learn from and teach waste handling skills to others
- Understand Waste Tank operations
- Able to make necessary connection to transfer mix from reclaim mix silos to waste
- Follow proper cleaning procedure for each piece of equipment in the waste room
- Protect and store cleaned equipment in accordance with plant practices to prevent contamination
- Cleaning waste room area frequently and handling chemicals in proper way and wearing correct PPE.
- Cleaning of equipment and waste bins with designated chemicals.
- Handling of chemicals with proper training.
- Following all GMP procedure around PPE and walking outside of waste room area including production.
- Measuring out waste and recording it on waste trackers.
- Anything else required by the Business

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication, math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- One-year related experience (preferred).
Work Environment:

The position involves frequent exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.
The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay range for prospective employees in this role is $21.58 per hour.
